Dental Exams
It is very important to schedule your Dental Exams regularly to maintain oral health. Dental Exams and Cleaning is a preventative health care method that will aid in optimal oral health against tooth decay and other oral health problems. We recommend that you schedule your dental exam every six months. Our dental exams include x-rays and other diagnostic procedures to check for any abnormalities.
Digital X-Rays
Cruz Davis Dental has made the switch from traditional film X-Rays to a Digital Radiograph System (Digital X-rays), which uses a fraction of the radiation with superior imaging quality and diagnostic capability. We are consistently upgrading to the safest and updated practices and equipment for a more efficient evaluation.
Benefits of X-Rays & Risks of X-Rays
The dentist would be happy to discuss with you the benefits and risks associated with dental x-rays. The doctor will give special consultations concerning pediatric cases (children), pregnant women, and patients with other health conditions to consider.
X-rays are very directed and quick in dentistry, and Cruz Davis Family and Cosmetic Dentistry follows the "As Low As Reasonably Achievable" (ALARA) principle of obtaining x-rays, which limits your radiation exposure by incorporating the following techniques: Smallest possible ray beam; Fastest film speed; Proper exposure and processing techniques. As an extra safety measure, we still use leaded aprons and thyroid collars.
Our digital radiograph system exposes the patient to a small fraction of radiation compared to traditional x-rays.
Fluoride Treatments
Did you know fluoride treatments are critical for children between 6 months to a little over a year? During this time, primary and permanent teeth being to come in. Fluoride treatments help protect oral health against dry mouth, gum disease, frequent cavity developments and individuals with crowns, bridges, or other dental hardware.
Nutritional Counseling for Optimal Oral Health
Through nutritional counseling, our Gainesville dental professionals will assess and manage risks related to nutrition. By analyzing dietary behaviors and diet, we can begin to pinpoint strategies for enhancing nutritional health. Though making changes to consumption habits can be challenging, a gradual improvement in diet can significantly improve oral health.
Oral Cancer Screening
As most know, the sooner cancer is detected, the better chances of stopping the progression before it’s too late. Dr. Cruz Davis will thoroughly examine your mouth for any red/white patches, mouth sores, lumps, or other abnormalities in the soft tissue of your mouth during an oral cancer screening.
Professional Teeth Cleaning / Prophylaxis
From the things we eat, to the habits we develop, there are many things that can stain, discolor or build-up on the surface of our teeth. Dental cleaning is a routine dental procedure that includes removing plaque or tartar build up on the surface of your teeth. Teeth cleaning is important to leave the surface smooth and clean so that bacteria is unable to stick, leaving your teeth feeling clean. We recommend you and your loved ones have a professional teeth cleaning performed with our staff once every 6 months to help maintain optimal oral health.
Tobacco Education and Tobacco Risk Counseling
Our dentist and other dental professionals use evidence-based knowledge to help prevent tobacco use. Tobacco use can be highly addictive and contains carcinogens directly linked to causing cancer and other health complications.
